ECOMED located at 19 Off Kingharman Road, Freetown, has solved a critical issue for SLAFA. Using its MRI bone aging detection methodology, SLAFA can ascertain the age of their under-17 players.

Accordingly, the Under-17 national football team has commenced a scanning test known as the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test at the EcoMed Advanced Medical Diagnostic Centre. The MRI test is part of the laboratory’s advanced services made available by latest technological developments in the developed world.

Using its MRI bone aging detection methodology, this will enable SLAFA to know the age of its U17 players who will be playing their qualifier match in Senegal, in preparation for the 19 African Cup of Nations to be held in Tanzania.

CAF requires every national U17 team in Africa to take its players through the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Pre Competition Cardiac Assessment (PCCA) tests. This is to ensure that the players that take part in the tournament are not only physically fit but also within the required age bracket.

Ten out of a total of thirty five technically selected players underwent the test on August 24 and the process is set to continue on Saturday August 25 with the remaining boys.

According to the Medical experts at the EcoMed Advanced Medical Diagnostic Centre, the test results will be available in 48 hours after the entire exercise.

Only players that will be ascertained to be not older than 15 years 6 months will be qualified to play in the U17 category.

ECOMED, which offers a one stop centre for both imaging and lab diagnostics is at the forefront of improving medical services in Sierra Leone providing reliable diagnostic results for Medical practitioners to properly treat their patients.

Today Ecomed provides the only MRI service in the country as well as an array of imaging diagnostics and laboratory work.

Ecomed is an example of private sector entrepreneurs providing services in critical areas such as the health sector.

Ecomed is a living example that Public Private Partnership is the only solution to restructuring the health sector where Government spends millions of dollars annually on various equipments which become obsolete within months.

The success of ECOMED in bringing modern diagnostic equipments into the country has been attributed to Management for its dedication and hard work.
