Bollore Transport and Logistics Sierra Leone, on Thursday 21st September, 2017 joined Bollore worldwide to participate in the second edition of Bollore Marathon Day aimed at raising fund to support education worldwide.
The event which saw over 300 Bollore staff simultaneously with 12,000 of their colleagues in all the 250 entities of Bollore worldwide running through main streets in the east end of Freetown back to the compound of the company at the Queen Elizabeth Quay II.
The Marathon Day according to Bollores Head of Human Resource, Claurinda Morgan is aimed at getting all Bollore staff across the world to contribute to the development of education.
She said each and every staff of Bollore has consented to pay $3 from his/her salary to contribute to the project.
She went on to say the money after being collected and collated, would then be handed over to UNICEF for the said aim.
In 2016 she went on, Bollore held similar event and it was very much successful, adding further that the proceeds from last years Marathon was diverted towards the same course but was then given to the Red Cross and Red Crescent Society.
She said the event is a yearly charity initiative designed to support organizations working to alleviate the plight of the poor, destitute and those engaged in supporting global access to education through a 5Km walk or run by every Bollore employee from over 12,000 Bollore employees.
It can be recalled that prior to the event, Chairman of Bollore, Cyrille Bollore had stated that the generated fund in this year marathon will be directed at helping children's education in Guinea through UNICEF.
The Chairman is quoted to have stated that the Marathon Day is an important event for the Company as it allows every member of the Bollore global family to demonstrate the solidarity, cohesion and mutual respect which are representative of the company's core values.
